How do I know which model is best for me?
If you experience heavy bleeding for one to two days during your period:
The Niagara, Elba, and Loire models absorb as much as 4 pads.
Niagara has a higher waist and is slightly thicker than other models, ideal for
night. Elba is cut a bit higher at the back, is thin, and cotton-lined inside. Loire are
hipsters, they don't have a strong elastic around the waist, so they're great if you don't want
anything to constrict you.
For very heavy periods, if you experience flooding, and change pads hourly, if you've recently given birth, or if you have incontinence issues:
Mississippi is a new model that absorbs 150ml (15 tampons) without its additional insert and 200ml with the insert. It will protect you all day and night.
Volga absorbs 100ml, they are boxer briefs, great for night, and a cotton insert can be used with them for additional protection.
Neva absorbs 80 to 100ml of liquid, they are extremely stretchy, especially around the waist, and with satin edges inside so nothing chafes or irritates.
Here you can read more about choosing a model based on cut and absorbency.
What materials are they made of?
PFAS-free & OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
All layers of Loona period panties have been tested and certified
as safe for skin contact, free from PFAS, heavy metals, and harmful
substances.
How to wash
How to wash Loona period underwear?
Loona underwear is washed easily and hygienically, without high temperatures and without special treatment.
1. Rinse them with cold water immediately after wearing.
Cold water prevents blood from "baking in" the fibers and allows it to be easily rinsed out of the absorbent layer.
2. Wash them in a machine at 30–40°C (you can also wash them with other laundry).
Add only detergent (without fabric softener), as fabric softener can reduce absorbency.
3. Air dry them.
Tumble drying or high heat is not recommended.
Why wash them this way?
Loona underwear has multiple technical layers made of special materials:
The first permeable layer that wicks blood downwards but does not retain it – which is why it rinses out easily with cold water.
Absorbent layers distribute liquid over a larger surface, preventing clumping and stains.
Antibacterial and breathable materials prevent bacterial buildup, so there are no unpleasant odors.
Because of this, there's no need for boiling, aggressive detergents, or anything complicated – the underwear stays clean, odor-free, and ready for reuse.
All materials are OEKO-TEX certified – completely safe for human health.
